Well, we need to defend against the best players, we need to be prepared for the worst. Noobs will send mix units against your city, and you’ll probably defend it. A good defense is a mixed one ready to defend equally against all types of attack. It’s 11x swordsmen, 4x archers and 11x hoplites. These are tactics for a beginner game, when you don’t have many cities nor a good amount of mythical units.
Check the attack per farming space below:
Slingers 23
Horsemen 60/3 = 20
Hoplite 16
Chariot 14
Now see the defense per farming space, it’s a sum with the three types of defense divided by 3:
Swordsmen 17,3
Archer 14,3
Hoplite 12,3
Chariot 12,3
We will exclude chariot because it’s clear it’s not good for attacking and it has equal defence stats with hops. Combining the three attacks, we have 20(blunt)/16(sharp)/23(range). In order to defend them equally.
20 + 16 + 23 = 59
Now divide by each attack:
20/59 = 33,9%
16/59 = 27,1%
23/59 = 39,0%
The closest combo is 12 swordsmen(good against slingers), 4 archers(good against hoplites), 11 hoplites(good against horsemen). Of course, you can change the proportion according to the attacks you are receiving.
Defense tactics:
There two possibilities dodge or defend. If you choose the second option, then you’re sure you’ll be able to defend it, you must have a high wall and hundreds of troops more militia activated.
- Dodging is a tactic used when you really want to avoid that attack, even if you fall under revolt. First, identify the wave, the attacker, the size of his city... Second, spend all your resources in barracks, buildings or market… Third, send your troops to a safe place and active militia. Finally, after the attack, call help from the division, and then join your forces with the others' support. In your defensive city, your priority is to build troops.
- Defense cities usually don’t suffer many attacks. It’s easy to defend, but hard to upgrade, because you’ll always be training defensive troops.
